Improving smudged areas in your Gimp Project by blending them instead

Again, in this screencast we have used the tattoo design of a flower as an example and here we show you how we've blended two colours together on one of the petals by using the smudge tool. However, if you want to blend your colours more effectively but have already applied these settings, then we're going to show you how to use the free select tool to select around the area you want to edit and how to use the eyedropper tool to get your colours precise, without ruining any of your design. . . . screencast video

Stroking a Path Selection in Gimp with the Paintbrush Tool and then Applying colour inside

In this screencast, we're going to look at how you can select an area in Gimp using the Path Select tool and then how to add a Paintbrush Stroke to it. We're then shown how to reduce (shrink) the selection by however many pixels as necessary to create a border for your shape, which we are then going to fill with the Fill Bucket and Paintbrush tools. Adding Tattoos to People using Gimp

Ever wondered what you'd look like with a tattoo? Planning on getting one but not sure what design would look best? In this screencast, we're shown exactly how to do this; How to add a tattoo pattern image to a picture of yourself in Gimp and adjust the opacity to make it look more realistic. You can also set the layer mode of your tattoo layer to 'Multiply' to make it blend in more with your skin. How to create a 3D-looking steel object

This screencast shows us how we can create shape and make it look as though it has been cut out of a sheet of steel. We're also shown how to add a drop shadow to it to make it more 3D. Making a Sandy looking texture in Gimp

In this screencast, we're looking at how to create a texture. The texture in question is a sand texture this time, and it's simple enough to make. All you have to do is adjust the noise of your bucket-filled image, edit a selection of it which you can that cut and paste in different areas ontop of your layer to create sand ripples, and then you're done. Creating Translucent Sellotape in Gimp

Here, we're shown how you can use the rectangle select tool, fill tool and fuzzy paintbrush tool to create a cool sellotape effect in Gimp. With this, you can save your sellotape image once you're done, open up another image of say a ripped piece of paper, and then import your sellotape image and edit the opacity of it to make it look as though you've stuck the paper back together with sellotape. Creating Icy Text using Gimp

In this screencast, we're going to look at how to make this cool, glowy, snowy text in Gimp. To create it, all you have to do it rotate your text, add a wind filter to it, rotate it back, blur it, adjust the colour levels and then move your layers around so that you get the look you want. This text would be great for a poster and looks really good and effective. Once you have all the layers merged together, you can save your text and open it up again whenever you want. . . . screencast video

How to create a quick but realistic sky effect using Gimp

In this screencast, we're going to be shown how you can quickly make a sky effect in Gimp, which would make a great background to any image. How to turn people into Aliens (Caricature effect)

Here, we're shown how to use the iWarp tool and the clone tool to turn this average looking man into a freaky alien! All you have to do is clone out his ears by selecting the clone tool and an area of the background and then painting over the top of the ears. Then, you go to th iWarp tool from the filters menu and play around with the Move, Grow and Shrink settings until you are happy with the way your new alien creature looks . . . screencast video

Making a Snakeskin effect using Gimp

In this screencast, we're going to look at how to use the Filters tools to create a snake-skin like effect in Gimp. First, what you need to do is to create a new layer and add a plasma cloud filter. Then, you must desaturate the layer and apply a bucket fill with the colours you are wanting your snake skin. Then, you need to apply to mosaic filter and then create a new layer overlaying the original layer which you then need to add a bump map to to give your skin extra texture . . . screencast video

How to make an eyeball using Gimp

In Gimp, you can create eyeballs using the Blend/Gradient tool. You can select your eye colour, green, blue or brown. You can always use the fill tool as well if you want to have your eyes a different colour, such as purple or red. You could even get rid of the iris altogether to give a zombie eye effect! In this screencast, I show you how you can create these eyeballs and adjust the Noise and Blur settings to give it a bit of a more realistic look. . . . screencast video

How to add borders to your text in Gimp and how to add a Gradient Blend also

In this screencast, I'm going to show you how you can create text, fill it with whatever colour you want, add a gradient blend to it with two-tone colours and then how to add a 'border' around your text by using the alpha to selection option and shrink/grow options from the Select menu at the top of the screen. An extra layer will also need to be added in order to add the gradient blend and I also show you how you can use the 'stroke to path' option to give your text an extra bit of a glow. . . . screencast video

Creating realistic water droplets using Gimp

So here we start with yet another blank canvas, and then end results is a rainy, watery looking image covered in water droplets. Here we use different layers and alpha to selections to create this effect and play around with the lighting effects as well. Don't forget to unlock the alpha channel just before you apply the colour curve though, or this will have no effect as we can see here. . . . screencast video
